 Obituario de Bonnie Elliott Lane
Bonnie Elliott Lane, 70, of Gladys, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, May 9, 2024. Born on July 6, 1953 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of George William Vassar and the late Betty Lou Vassar. In addition to her mother, she was also preceded in death by her first husband, Marion “Duck” Lee Elliott. She graduated from Rustburg High School and Longwood with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She worked for over 20 years at Long Mountain Grocery then continued her working career at CVS up until her retirement. She was a fun, loving person. She loved being around people and everyone loved her. She always had a positive attitude even throughout her courageous battle with cancer. She loved to go to the mountains or the beach. She especially loved to ride roller coasters and laughed the whole time. She supported her children, grandchildren, their spouses, and their significant others every step of the way. Even when she was sick, she would watch their events online. She never left their side. In addition to her father, she is also survived by her husband, Everett “Pete” McKinley Lane; her three daughters, Nicole Hudnall (Jason), Kenda Elliott, Carrie Burnley (Dale); a special step-daughter, Judy Childress; grandchildren, Jasmine, Kaylee, Tyler, Kasey “Doodle”, Whitney, Breanna “Bre”, Anna “Sweet Annie”, Carly, Ryder; great-grandchildren, Alva, Kaydon, Kobi, Adalynn, Kayson, Nolan; sisters, Georgia Shull (Scott), Scarlet “Scotti” Clements; brother, Ronnie Vassar (Debbie), and numerous nieces and nephews including a niece, Annette Coleman, who she took in and treated as her own child. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Combs, Dr. Cantrell, and the staff of Lynchburg General 4A Oncology who gave care, love, and support during Bonnie’s illness. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 13, 2024 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. A graveside service celebrating her life will be conducted on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Cumbie Memorial Cemetery officiated by Pastor Ray Kingrea.
