Born in Lynchburg, March 18, 1946, he was the son of the late Willard T. Johnson and Eleanor Mayberry Johnson. Bobby was the retired owner of Reggie Phelps Auto Service where he worked for over forty years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gurley Humphrey Johnson; his son James Michael Johnson and one sister, Brenda Johnson Maddox.
He is survived by his son, Bobby Lee “Bo” Johnson, Jr. and his wife Ivy; his daughter-in-law, Jennifer Johnson, five grandchildren, Cameron Harper, Julia Johnson, Ben Warren, Ty Johnson and Hunter Johnson; one great grandchild, Kade O’Neal; two brothers, Willard T. “Buck” Johnson, Jr. and wife Brenda and Tony Johnson and wife Jan; one sister, Patricia Johnson Grubbs and husband Kenneth and a longtime special friend, Faye Cothran.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
Inurnment service will take place at a later date at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
