Betty Rowland Moore, 73, of Rustburg, passed away on Monday, June 12, 2017 at her residence with her beloved dachshunds Roscoe and Snookie. She was born on December 15, 1943 in Lynchburg, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Dallas Gilmore Rowland and Ella Robertson Rowland. Betty was the loving and devoted wife of the late Allen Wayne Moore, Sr.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, Allen Wayne Moore, Jr. and his significant other Deborah Mahone Freeman; her daughter, Sheri Denise Moore; and her two grandchildren, Parker Elizabeth Smith and Dallas Peyton Smith. Her close friend Carol Tyler will also cherish many memories made with Betty as they together were dedicated Ruritans and travel comrades.
Over the years, Betty acquired many special colleagues and friendships while working at Craddock and Terry, GNB Battery (formerly Gould Battery) and SunTrust Bank from which she retired.
Betty was a member of New Chapel Baptist Church and she sang with the choir. Betty also currently served as a National Director with Ruritan National. She was also the Past District Governor of the Peaks of Otter District and the past Secretary of the Rustburg Ruritan Club. Betty also served on many committees with Ruritan at the local, District, and National level.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Friday, June 16, 2017 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. A Celebration of Betty's life will be held on Saturday, June 17, at 3:00 p.m. at New Chapel Baptist Church, Rustburg, VA.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made in Betty’s memory to the Betty Moore Education Fund at the Ruritan National Foundation. Donations can be mailed to Ruritan National Foundation P.O. 487 Dublin, VA 24084. Please note Fund # 1905.
