Bernard Elwood Falls, 88, of Lynchburg, passed away, Sunday, December 22, 2013, at Lynchburg General Hospital. Husband of the late Rose Lee Hunley Falls. Born February 27, 1925, in Bedford County, the son of the late Floyd Lohmo Falls and the late Ruth Roop Falls.
Bernard was a cement contractor for Murchison Construction Company for 30 years. A member of Twin Oaks Southern Baptist Church, Citrus Heights, CA. Bernard was a member for 60 years in the Cement Masons Union (OPCMIA). He served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
In addition to his wife, Bernard was preceded in death by seven siblings, Carl Falls, Alton Falls, Shirly Falls, Elaine Abbott, Muriel Lindsay, Faye Massie and Mae Massie.
Bernard is survived by two daughters, Lynette Falls Holly (Bill) of Concord, CA and Patricia Falls Du Mont (Dolph) of Fort Lauderdale, FL; two siblings, James Falls of Lynchburg and Christine Falls of Lynchburg; one granddaughter, Diane Lynn Holly of Concord, CA; numerous nieces and nephews; and his special canine companion, Rocky.
A funeral service will be conducted, 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 27, 2013, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Pastor Joe Horrell officiating. Interment will follow at Virginia Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends, 6-7:30 p.m., Thursday, December 26, 2013, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
