Alice Jacquline Vest

Alice "Jackie" Jacquline Smith Vest, affectionately known as Jackie, was born on October 26, 1937, in Rockbridge County, Virginia. She passed away peacefully on July 12, 2024. Jackie was a beloved member of her community, always looking out for others and bringing a sense of humor to any situation. She was dedicated to every task she took on, known for her unwavering commitment. Jackie loved Elvis Presley music and was a die-hard Redskins fan. Above all, she cherished her time with family. Tammy was Jackie’s heart, and she couldn’t live without her. As much as she loved Tammy, she cherished her grandson Ryan, always putting them both first in her life. Through good and bad times, joys and sorrows, until the end, the three were always there for each other. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Grace Smith; her beloved husband, Emmett Lee Vest; her daughter, Tammy Balderson; and her sisters, Maxine Holland, Dottie Lynn, and Linda Rogers. Jackie is survived by her beloved grandchild, Ryan Balderson; her son-in-law, Chris Balderson; her nephew, Travis Rogers (Heather) of Buena Vista, VA; her brothers, Tommy Smith (Joann) of Rustburg, VA, Bobby Smith of Manteno, IL, and Mike Smith (Sharon) of Thaxton, VA; and her special friend, David Jones of Winston-Salem, NC. A graveside service will be held at the mausoleum of Rockbridge Memorial Gardens, 116 Peaceful Lane, Lexington, Virginia 24450, on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at 11 am, with Pastor Butch Grow officiating.
