Mr. Tynes was born March 9, 1932 in Wakefield, Texas, the son of the late Lillian Irene (Smith) and Oscar Leander Tynes. He passed away Thursday, October 25, 2012 in a local nursing facility.
Mr. Tynes was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a painter for many years at Brown & Root, laid fiber optic cable for Ray Davis Utilities, was a freelance photographer and had a fiberglass repair shop. His hobbies included woodwork with cabinets, duck hunting, gardening and was a rescue diver. He retrieved several bodies and never charged. Mr. Tynes was a member of Providence Baptist Church. He served his country with the United States Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Wysonda Tynes of Lufkin; daughter, Rebecca Dearing of Lufkin; sons, William Wiley Tynes of Ferris, Henry Tynes and wife Teressa of Lufkin and Thomas Tynes and wife Becky Buck of Lufkin; grandsons, Joseph Hatfield and William Seay; brother, Oscar Edwin Tynes and wife Mathilda of Bowdoin, Maine; brother-in-law, Howard Wayne Collier of Brookville, Indiana; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Tynes was preceded in death by his brother, Marshall D. Tynes; sister, Yvonne Clark; and nephew, Dale Eugene Clark.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at Gipson Funeral Home.
