Maxine Havard Parrish, 84, of Lufkin, was born September 11, 1927 in Angelina County, Texas, the daughter of the late Maude (Crumpler) and Dock Boles. She passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2012 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Parrish was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and loved her family very much. She also especially loved her Chihuahuas. She was an election judge in Angelina County for more than 20 years and was a substitute teacher. Mrs. Parrish was a faithful member of Union Road Church of Christ. She and her family volunteered with passing out food at the food pantry.
Survivors include her husband of 19 years, Herman Parrish; son and daughter-in-law, Tracey Dean and Michele Havard; son, Trent Havard; daughter, Betty Murphy; sons and daughters-in-law, Donald Earl and Katie Parrish and Jason Eugene and Charlotte Parrish; grandchildren, Duane, Susan, Sarah, Alana, Brandon, and Colin; great-grandchildren, Johnathan and Melissa; great-great grandchildren, Madison and Lily; and a number of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Parrish was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Havard; son-in-law, Alfred T. Murphy Jr., and sisters, Bernice, Bess, Marie and Dellie.
Pallbearers will be Bob Hall, Rob Hall, Jason Sanders, Jason Parrish, Brandon Parrish and Clay Cummings.
Services for Mrs. Parrish will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 27, 2012 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Pat Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Glendale Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
