It is with great sadness we announce funeral services for Matthew Michael Eugene Pierson, age 25, of Etoile, Texas. Matthew was called Home Tuesday, August 29, 2023. He was born June 17th, 1998, in Houston, Texas to parents, Michael Eugene Pierson and Pamela Lee.
Matthew has been a ray of light for all of the days of his life, to know him was to love him. During a history class in the sixth grade, taught by Amber Moore, Matthew had made the decision to be the United States President in the year 2040. Anyone who spent more than 60 seconds in Matthew's company since that day, has been made aware. Law enforcement has been his goal since that day. Tragically his mother passed away while he was in junior high and he went to live with his uncle, Jaimie Campbell, who he loved as a father. After becoming Prom King, and Student President of his senior class, Matthew graduated in 2017 from Huntington High School in Huntington, Texas. He became a security guard at CHI Saint Luke's in Lufkin and later transferred to their sister facility in Houston, Texas and enrolled in the Houston Community College Police Academy. Matthew graduated with perfect attendance on August 15, 2023. He graciously accepted a position at the Shelby County Sheriff's Office August 24, 2023, as a deputy. In the short time of being employed there Matthew made quite the impression, his Captain stating, "He was exactly what this department needed."
Matthew is preceded in death by his dear Mother, Pam Lee; Grandmother, Betty Johnson; Aunt, Barbara Campbell; and Cousin, Reagan Elizabeth Lee. Matthew is survived by his Grandfather, Robert Johnson, Uncles Jaimie Campbell, and Steve Lee, Sister, Ashleigh Blaze, and numerous other relatives. When not at work, or school, or the Etoile VFD, or the many other organizations he was affiliated with, he could be found with his best friend, Jeremy. Though Matthews blood relatives loved him dearly, he also managed to become a member of numerous other families along the way. As someone once said, it takes a village to raise a child, and Matthew's village was many. Numerous additional mothers, fathers, and younger siblings whom he mentored were gained along the way in his short 25 years, only naming a few, Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church, Amber Moore and family, the Conn family and the Smith girls. We will all miss him terribly.
