Funeral service for James Edward Lee, 87, of Houston, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2023, in the Maritime Chapel at Gipson Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Housley officiating. Interment will follow at the Bennett Cemetery.
James Edward Lee was born on September 1, 1935, and passed peacefully on January 25, 2023, at home, surrounded by his family. James was a lifelong Houston resident. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty Ann. James is also survived by one child, Janet Bowles, and her husband Bryan. He has two grandchildren who completed his life, Quintin Lee and Rachel Bowles. He is also survived by nephew Robert Pillows and wife, Jennifer; nephew Robert Poole and wife Geri; nieces Stacie Brandt and Rebecca Poole.
James was a member of Crossbridge Christian Church. James worked in the oil and gas industry for over 40 years, working at various engineering companies. He was a past member of the Houston Golf Association. He loved playing golf, being a golf marshal, and watching the Golf Channel, but he would watch any sporting event at any time.
James loved to travel with his family; they visited many destinations over the years. He loved helping others and gave his free time to do so. He was a fancy dresser and loved looking good. He brought joy and completeness to his family. He will be missed but never forgotten.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning at the funeral home.
