Elmer Edgar "Pete" Quine

Elmer E. "Pete" Quine, 85, of Pollok, was born August 21, 1926 in Cherokee County, the son of the late Bessie Mae (Goodwin) and David Edwin Quine. He passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2011 in a local hospital.

Mr. Quine was a log cutter in the day when he carried a power saw around the woods and cut the marked trees, until the day when one of them fell and crushed his leg. He enjoyed farming and raising cattle. At one time he had a small Longhorn herd. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Quine was a member of Redtown Baptist Church.

Survivors include the mother of his children, Louise Scott; his sons, Eddie Dean Quine and Billy Joe Quine; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Pete Cooper, Kay and Curtis Aldredge and Melissa and Scott Green; grandchildren, Randal Cooper and wife Kara, Jeffery Cooper and wife Heather, Michael Dean Quine, Jacob Quine and wife Amanda, Kristen Quine, Jennifer Aldredge, Jeremy Quine and wife Chandi, Andy Quine, Bro. Scott Green and Rachael Green; great-grandchildren, Haley, Justin, Collin, Cailyn, Olen, Aubree, Tristen, Anna, Stormi, Schuyler, Sonny and Isabella.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Quine was preceded in death by his grandson, Chase Wyatt Quine; 2 brothers; and 1 sister.

Pallbearers will be Michael Quine, Jacob Quine, Randal Cooper, Jeffery Cooper, Jeremy Quine, Andy Quine and Bro. Scott Green.

Mr. Quine's granddaughters will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mr. Quine's family wants to publicly express our thanks to God for His abundant blessings through the years and His mercy and grace these last few months.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 19, 2011 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Horace Fletcher and Bro. Scott Green. Interment will follow in the Simpson Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
