Funeral service for Alice Irvin Havard, 89, of Lufkin, will be held at 2:00 on Friday, April 12, 2024 at Gipson Funeral Home chapel with Dr. John Greene and Pastor Todd Core officiating. Interment will follow at Tom Havard Cemetery.
Mrs. Havard was born January 12, 1935 in Terrero, New Mexico to Thomas and Ella Irvin. She passed away Wednesday, April10, 2024 at Southland Memory Care Unit.
Alice loved her family and gardening. She definitely had a very green thumb and her yard was filled with flowers and plants. Her days were busy taking care of her husband and best friend for 65 years until he passed away in August of 2023. She served in her church at Harmony Hill Baptist Church as an usher and stuffed the bulletin for many years.
Survivors include daughter, Donna Caples and husband, Larry of Lufkin; son, Dale Havard of Lufkin; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Molly Sullivan of Lufkin, Marion Waeshe of Chicago; brother, Edward and wife, Nola Irvin of Alaska; brother-in-law, Morgan and wife, Joyce Havard of Navasota; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Medford Havard; sons, Johnny Burke and Jeff Havard; sisters, Annie Khan and Alma Hendry; and brother, Tommy Irvin.
Pallbearers will be Robby Caples, Trent Caples, Ty Caples, Scott Stewart, George Nichols, and Cliff Williams.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
