Wanda Greer

Celebration of life services for Wanda Greer, 81, of Lubbock will be held at 10 am, Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel with Rev. Jerry Huggins officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm, Monday, May 23, 2011 at Resthaven Funeral Home. She passed from this life Friday, May 20, 2011.

Wanda Joyce was born April 23, 1930 in Gorman, Texas to the late Edward and Ida (Welch) Cavitt. Wand accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of 10. She married Weldon Greer, December 27, 1955 in Clovis, New Mexico. Wanda spent her early years in East Texas but resided in West Texas for most of her life where she and Weldon raised their family, taught Sunday School and served as a Girl Scout Leader for many years.

She attended Draugns Business College, was employed by Furrs Supermarkets for 25 years, managed IBECW, but her favorite job was serving as greeter for United Market Street, as mom never met a stranger.

Wanda is preceded in death by her son, Michael in 1957, sister, Sharon Durham in 2004, granddaughter, Chelsey in 1992, and husband, Weldon in 2005.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory are her daughters; Cindy Garth and husband Gary, Pattie Peek and husband Devin, sister; Treasure Holland, grandchildren; Aaron Garth and wife, Megan Leann, Courtney Garth Butler and husband, Zach, Megan Katherine Garth, Kali Peek, Kori Peek, Carter Peek; great grandchild; Kaden Michael Garth, brother-in-laws; Jerrell Greer, Rae Greer, Stumpy and wife, Kaye Greer and many nieces and nephews.
