He was born May 29th, 1946 to Vernon Ardine Sr and Wanda Jean (Patton) Peterson in Lovington, New Mexico. He grew up the eldest son of a Master Sergeant in the US Army, so he traveled the world from an early age. The family settled in Lubbock where he graduated from Lubbock High School and immediately began working towards his passion as a mechanic. He retired from Fenner Tubbs Chrysler after over 40 years of service. He loved everything with an engine; cars, motorcycles, boats and planes and while it was his job, it was also his favorite hobby. He had a penchant for learning all sorts of random facts. He loved history and had a unique sense of humor and will be remembered by many friends as the man with several memorable one liners.
He met and married the love of his life, Jackie (Penny) Peterson in August of 1969. They traveled and adventured and raced cars until they began to grow their family.
He was preceded in death by his father Vernon Sr, his mother, Jean and his brother, Wayne. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Jackie, his eldest daughter, Brenda and grandchildren, Taylor and Chance and his youngest daughter, Melissa and husband, Trevor and grandchildren, Colter and Natalie.
Graveside services will be at Resthaven Memorial Park, 5740 19th St, Monday, December 4th at 1pm.
