Jackie passed away on December 17, 2015. Jackie was born in Carlsbad, NM on May 22, 1932. She attended school in Dallas and graduated from TCU in 1952. She received her Master’s degree from Texas Tech in 1970. She taught High School in Seminole, El Paso and Dallas in the 1950’s, then at Mackenzie Junior High from 1966-1985. She taught at Coronado High school from 1986-1993. Jackie received a national teaching award from the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge in 1972. Over the course of her teaching career, Jackie taught US and World History, Geography, Government, English and Economics to a variety of students. She continually updated her vast knowledge to improve her teaching skills.
Jackie enjoyed travel, reading and Thursday Bridge with her friends. Her retirement years were spent volunteering with the Texas Retired Teacher’s Association and the League of Women Voters.
Jackie Sheppard married Charlie Williams in Dallas on July 21, 1956. He preceded her in death in 1991. She is survived by three children, Kathy Gose (Eddie) of Hilltop Lakes, Tara Luna of East Glacier Park, MT and David Williams (Rebecca) of Lubbock. The great joy of her life was her grandchildren, Matt Gose of Hilltop Lakes and Angela and Valerie Williams, both of Lubbock. She is also survived by her sister, Joyce (Bob) Hill of Fort Worth and a brother, Duane Sheppard of Houston. She leaves many wonderful friends and former students who remember her fondly.
