Roger Glen Youngblood, 76, of Lubbock, TX, passed away peacefully at his home on December 16, 2024. Glen was born on January 7, 1948, in Monticello, Arkansas. He is survived by his beloved wife, Paula Youngblood, and a large, loving family, including children Shelley Youngblood, Tara Youngblood (wife, Sally), Kaycee Youngblood (husband, Omar), Stacie Polozola-Barron, and De Anna McClure (husband, Jason). He was a proud grandfather to fifteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and extended family who loved him deeply.
Glen was preceded in death by his mother, Pauline Breedlove-Phillips, and RL Phillips. He was also preceded in death by his son, Robert Heath Elliott, and his son-in-law, Tyler Barron. Glen graduated from Hobbs High School in Hobbs, New Mexico. In his early years, he married Linda Kay Jones, and together they welcomed three daughters, whom he cherished deeply. Later in life, he met the love of his life and best friend Paula Jean Tate in 1993, and later married in August 1999. Through this union, he gained three bonus children. He and Paula built a life filled with love, laughter, and mutual respect.
Glen’s professional life in later years was marked by his role as a realtor and property manager in Lubbock, where he worked alongside his wife, Paula. He was dedicated to his clients, many of whom became friends, not just clients. Throughout his career, he maintained memberships in the Texas Association of REALTORS®, National Association of REALTORS®, and the Lubbock Association of REALTORS®. Glen’s career was diverse; from cowboy, grocery manager, owner-operator truck driver, propane manager to realtor, he embraced new challenges and was always eager to learn, consistently bringing diligence and integrity to everything he did.
Outside of work, Glen was passionate about simple pleasures: watching football, shing, enjoying a great meal, his brisket and ribs were unforgettable, and he always enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved nothing more than being at the lake, shing, or enjoying time in the garden with Paula. Glen was known for his love of the outdoors, as well as for his fondness for classic old western films, John Wayne, The Dallas Cowboys, and strawberry cake. His family fondly remembers him as a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who always offered a word of wisdom, support, and encouragement. His children will forever treasure the lessons he imparted, and his grandchildren adored him, calling him “Papa”.
A generous and caring man, Glen will be deeply missed by his loving wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who knew him. His legacy of love, hard work, and dedication will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. A Celebration of Life for Glen will be held on January 4, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Cook’s Garage in Lubbock, TX. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Glen’s remarkable life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Glen’s memory to St. Jude’s Hospital, The Arthritis Foundation, or The American Heart Association.
The family would like to thank everyone for the ongoing love and prayers and to all who reached out to Glen and the family.
