Robert “Bob” Mooney, 86, passed away Monday, January 27, 2014 in his home in Lubbock, TX. A celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 30, 2014 in The Abbey Chapel of Resthaven Funeral Home with Chaplain Bruce Cotton and Bruce Slaughter officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Bob was born February 24, 1927 in Petersburg, TX to William Elmer and Ruth (Saunders) Mooney. Bob fought in Germany during WWII for the US Army. He was a mechanic as well as a woodworker, building most of the furniture in his house. He married the love of his life Betty Marshall on June 11, 1949. They had two beautiful children together Travis and Cynthia. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brother Truman Mooney; and sister Elaine Lloyd. Survivors include his wife Betty; his son Travis Mooney and his children Brittany, Robbie and Amber and their 6 children; his daughter Cynthia and husband Scott and her children Claire and Jake; his adopted grandchildren Kara and husband Mark and their children James, Katie, and Brooke; Kayla and husband Travis, and their children Nathan, Brynlee, and Braelyn.
