She is survived by one sister, Mary Foster of Big Spring, TX. Also surviving her are her son, Monte McGlaun and wife, Joyce, (Abilene), her daughter, Tracie Narvaeth and husband, Ross John Narvaeth (Ransom Canyon). Six grand children and families filled her with laughter: Christel Snelson and husband James (Dallas), Rebekah Wilsford and husband Michael (Dallas), Joy Anna Varrone and husband Michael (Washington, DC), Kathleen McGlaun (Dallas) Sierra NiCole Narvaeth, and Brandon Kyle Narvaeth (Ransom Canyon). Six great grand children brought her much joy as well: Jonah, Gracie and Evlyn Wilsford, Ruby and Mary Elizabeth Snelson, and Sebastian Varrone. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.
In the early 1930’s, the Lightner family moved from Oklahoma to Draw Community, Lynn County, where they grew cotton and raised six children. Oma married Randall McGlaun, her childhood sweetheart, December 25, 1942. They lived during WWII at Bryan Airfield, Bryan, Texas. After the war Randall and Omie returned to Lubbock to work, build a home and raise two families. Monte was born in 1950 and in 1966 their daughter Tracie was born. Oma was predeceased by her parents, four siblings and by her husband of 55 years, Randall McGlaun, who passed away in 1999.
Oma lived as a testimony to dependence on Jesus’ care for her the past 15 years. Oma was a dedicated member of the Prime Timers Class and Sonshine Widows groups at Trinity Church. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Resthaven Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 25, 2013 in The Abbey Chapel at Resthaven Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers please send memorials to Trinity Church Beyond Fund.
