As a toddler, her family moved to Lubbock, TX where she would attend school and make her home for the better part of six decades. In 1945, she married Loyd Hollinsworth whom she was married to until his death in 1981. Together they had one daughter, Sandra.
Mary began her working career at a very young age, working for the Franklin Stores, Furr’s Family Center, and Kersey Mecham, a local daycare. In 1989, Mary moved to Lewisville, TX to be closer to her daughter and family, and began working in the Hedrick Middle School cafeteria. She worked there until her retirement in 1998. Throughout her working life, she was known for being a hard worker and formed many lasting friendships with her coworkers.
Mary enjoyed traveling, visiting with friends and neighbors, but most of all she loved spending time with her family. She wore the title of ‘Memaw’ most proudly of all her titles in life. She was hard working, loyal, kind hearted, and thoughtful. Mary loved people, never met a stranger, and was loved by all who knew her. She will be dearly missed, and always remembered for her sweet and caring nature.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Loyd, parents, Oscar Davis and Sarah Ritchey; brothers Troy Ritchey, Oscar ‘Junior’ Davis and Robert Davis; sisters Virginia Cates and Velma Hall.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Jordan and husband, Ron; granddaughters, Mindy McNeal and husband, Jeff and Carma Chisam and husband, Matt; great grandchildren Easton and Holden Chisam and Ryland
and Kinzy McNeal.
A Celebration of Mary’s Life will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday August 21, 2020 at Resthaven Funeral Home in Lubbock, TX. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 12:00 pm in Resthaven Funeral Home’s Abbey Chapel.
