Luther Lee Laster

He was born in Alice, TX on October 10, 1947. Lu graduated from Snyder High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Wayland University.

He was married to the love of his life, Jeannie Gaines, on October 19, 1968, in Sunray, TX.

Lu had a career in the United States Army of which he retired as a decorated Command Sergeant Major. After his retirement from the Army, the Lord called him to pastor his home church, Joy Fellowship, for over 20 years.

He was a member of Church On The Rock, Lubbock, TX and had a passion for the military, motorcycle riding, mission trips, going to the movies weekly and spending time with his family.

He was survived by the love of his life and wife, Jeannie, of 54 years. His daughters, Mistilyn Palmer & husband, Eric of Canyon; Melodi Barrett of Lubbock; grandsons, Logan Palmer & wife Megan of Canyon, Cody Palmer & wife Diana of Denton, Carson and Ethan Barrett of Lubbock; great grandchildren, Juliet and Hattie Palmer of Canyon and Luke Palmer of Denton. Surviving siblings, Mary Nell Dugan of Midland, Montie Shy of Abilene, Donna Smith of Snyder and Joe Shy of Pflugerville.

Funeral arrangements will be held at Church On The Rock North Campus in Lubbock, TX on Saturday, July 15th at 2:00pm.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Lubbock Dream Center.
