Linda Ann Moudy, beloved sister, aunt, and teacher passed away on December 25, 2018 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas at the age of 70. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church in Lubbock.
She was born in Spur, Texas on January 4, 1948 to Shag and Mattie Ruth Moudy. She graduated from Brownfield High School on May 3, 1966. On May 31, 1968, she earned an Associates of Arts Degree from South Plains College in Levelland, Texas. On May 16, 1970, she received a Bachelor of Science in Education Degree from Texas Tech University. She earned a Master Degree in Education from West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas on August 18, 1978.
Linda was an educator to children for approximately 45 years. After graduating from Texas Tech, Linda was employed by Hobbs ISD teaching first, second, and third grade for 10 years. After moving to Wolfforth, she taught in the Frenship ISD until retiring due to health reasons in 2017.
Linda’s love for teaching was known by all. She impacted the lives of students who loved and adored her. She was often visited and contacted by former students who thanked her for her love, compassion, and devotion. She touched the hearts of many. She was described by her co-teachers as “an incredible person, teacher and friend who always had a kind word for everyone. She loved every kid who walked through her door and she had the ability to see the big picture of life.” Her compassion for others extended to a time of being a foster parent to children in need from Children’s Protective Services in Lubbock. She provided a loving home and education to several children who were in need of love and guidance. Her devotion to children and the impact she made can never be truly measured.
Linda’s love for her family was indescribable. The bond she shared with her sister, Iris, was a close one. She loved her nephews, Jeff and Jay, like they were her very own. As children, they were taken on many fun adventures with their Aunt Linda! Her great-niece, Chandler, was the true joy in her heart and she thought of her in her very last moments on earth. Her family included her two Yorkies, Tinkerbell and Maggie, who were treated like her babies. Her family wishes the world to know how much she is loved and missed.
She is survived by her sister, Iris Gipson, of Lubbock; nephew, Jeff Clark of Lubbock, nephew, Jay Clark and wife Lisa and great-niece, Chandler of Arlington, Texas.
