June, I will miss you so much!  I was so young when you came into our family, I can’t remember my life without you in it.  I love you like a sister. You were so thoughtful, kind and fit into the family perfect. The Ruidoso trips, Christmas and holidays you were there. I will always cherish the time we spent together and all the memories we made. There were times I just needed to vent or someone to talk to and you were always there to listen and give me your thoughts on things. You always showed up for all the special occasions of my girls and that meant so much.  You were the perfect sister. I will always be there for Kimberly and Shannon, just as you were for me. I know you are happy and pain free now in Heaven with Darrell  and that gives me peace of mind. Until I see you again I will always love and miss you.

Mom, I was looking through some pictures this morning and it is hard to choose which one to share because you were always there to support us, but sometimes there wasn’t a picture of you because you were the one taking it. I love and appreciate you more than you ever knew. You loved like Jesus did with a sacrificial love. That was demonstrated to me by something Peyton said to me. She said that after Big Dad(Daddy) passed that she found  all these foods that she thought you liked but really you didn’t. You cooked them because Big Dad(Daddy) liked them. To me, that epitomizes sacrificial love, you gave up your desires for someone you love. You did that not only for Daddy but for all of us kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. You were so selfless and loving. You loved “Big” from your little biddy 4’ 11”(on a good day) body. In looking through pictures, I found in a book you had made from Facebook, a picture of Jesus’ face and it said “Share, if you love Jesus!”  You showed and shared your love of Jesus perfectly through your sacrificial love of others. I also found a quote you shared in your Facebook book. It said, “Many we love have passed away too soon…without reason. We remember them often in a thousand different ways…in the morning…in the night…when we look at the stars…a date…a song…a place…a smell…In memory of all those who have left us too soon…share if you miss somebody who is watching down on you from heaven…”. I know you felt that way about Daddy, Deon, and others. Momma, we will remember you too in a thousands different ways. You were always there and will always be remembered. We love you and miss you so so much!

When I think of you Mom, I think of characteristics like strength, selflessness, and sacrificial love. Your strength can be seen through the struggles you encountered throughout your lifetime which spanned from changing high schools your senior year, to farming trials, to losing your first born, Deon, to becoming a Naunny way too soon, and to finally living a life without the love of your life after Daddy lost his battle to cancer. Through all these trials, you kept the faith and continued to support your family.
Mom, you demonstrated selflessness through your daily actions.  Your love language was definitely acts of service. I remember how you would walk behind me and clean up after me before I even had the chance to do so.  You were my mommy even when I was 50 years old. You also demonstrated your love to others through buying and giving gifts to others. This was your way of letting us know we were loved and meant the world to you.  I remember you giving Texas Tech Christmas ornaments to all those you loved every Christmas and buying school clothes for the grandkids and great grandkids every summer before school started. 
Mom, you also taught me what sacrificial love looks like.  You and Daddy would travel hours to watch my kids play sports.  You were the girls biggest fan.  You even continued that after Daddy passed.  You would go watch Avery play softball or Kinsley dance at her recital. I know you didn’t always feel up to going, but as long as you could, you did. I believe you became an avid Texas Tech football and basketball fan because that is what Daddy loved. You always put Daddy and your kids’ desires before your own.
Oh Mom, how I miss you.  I know you were “ready to go home,” but I was not ready for you to go. The birthday we shared will never be the same, and our silly Christmas pictures will now have someone missing. My heart aches Mom, but I can rest in the peace of knowing I will see you in a little while. I love you!

I first met June when Kimberly and Rocky were dating. Later I was gracefully invited to go with June and Kimberly to shop for the wedding dress. I knew nothing about the price of cotton, but I remember June comparing the dress to the cost of cotton bales. I knew June was very educated in the cotton industry. 
Later June graciously opened her home for our daughter’s bridal shower.
When the time came for the birth of our grandchild, I saw the compassion in June that a mother has for her child. As our grandchildren came with their activities we were able to continue our visits with June and Darrell. After Darrell passed away Kimberly and Rocky moved to Wolfforth to care for June. It was during this time that June and Rocky developed a closer relationship. It blessed my heart when June called Rocky her “favorite!”

It’s hard for me to write this letter because I still can’t believe you are no longer here with us. I miss you terribly already. You were such a strong, courageous, and generous woman. I am lucky that God blessed me with such a perfect Naunny. You made it your mission to ensure the grandkids always got what we needed and, often more than that, what we wanted. I will forever cherish the memories we shared together while I was growing up, from attending sporting events, to ensuring we had an amazing trip up the West Coast, and to providing me a place to call home when I first moved to Lubbock to attend Texas Tech. I will always remember the late nights you spent checking on me and bringing me snacks while I spent countless hours studying in your office. You were one of my biggest cheerleaders and instilled in me the confidence to persevere and accomplish my dreams. Until your last breath, you always put others first, and I am grateful you showed me what it means to truly be humble. I find comfort in knowing you are reunited with the love of your life, Darrell, and my Big Dad. I now have two guardian angels who will always protect me. I look forward to the day I join you two in Heaven, but for now, as I wrap up this letter, I’ll say it’s not a goodbye but merely a “see you later.” I love you, Naunny.

We are so sorry for your loss! We will miss her! We have so many memories of our times together! We treasure all the times we traveled together! We shared baby showers, weddings, parties, canning,  Tech games, time in Ruidoso, and going dancing! I loved to watch them waltz! 
Mostly I will miss our time with each other, all the laughs and tears! We could talk about anything! We shared all the losses and joys of life together for over 50 years! I was blessed to have her in my life and call her my friend !!

Mom, where do I begin? Six and half years ago when Rocky and I became your roommates, I never realized what a blessing it would be to spend so much time with you.  Just like the person you are, you wanted to take care of us as much as we wanted to take care of you.  You worried about us as much as we worried about you.  I truly believe because you wanted to care for us, you continued to thrive for over four years after Daddy passed.  However, once you became tired, you were ready “to go home.” I know the past two years were hard and your mind and body changing was a frustration for you.  I hope you know that I loved you through it all.  No matter the challenges faced, you continued to try to be as independent as you could because you didn’t want to be a bother or burden to anyone. You were never a bother or burden Mom.  If you said “sorry” once for your situation, you said it a million times.  Mom, you had nothing to be sorry for.  You took care of me for many many years, and it was a blessing to be able to care for you. 

 I feel so lost now that you are gone.  I wish I could just visit with you one more time.  I know I will again one day, but that day will not come soon enough.  I miss you Mom, and I hope I can be even half the woman, mother, and friend you were.  I will see you later.  I love you!

This is the last picture I have of you until I see you again in heaven. The loss has been noticed. And I miss you more and more as the days get longer this year. It’s honestly really hard to think that I can’t see you anymore. Your gone to heaven without us. But we’ll see each other again. I love you naunny. Always.

Naunny, you will be greatly missed. I am thankful for all the love and support you gave me. You have always taken care of your family and done everything to help. I am grateful for the time I had growing up with y’all every other weekend, the year of college I lived with you and Big Dad, and the help you gave with Avery and Kinsley. You and Big Dad were my biggest supporters and I miss you both tremendously. I will remember our times from traveling to Graceland, the Hermitage, and Branson. You had a giving heart and always made sure we had the best of everything. I cherish our times in Ruidoso and tailgating for Tech games. This is not a goodbye but a see you later. Tell Big Dad hello for me and I will see you later! Love you, Naunny!

“If you can reach it you can have it”. This was naunny’s response to you if you asked for anything to eat. Naunny always had the candy drawer filled with candy for us to eat and snacks out. 

She knew what she wanted and would not take no for an answer. If she wanted to give you something you would take it. She wanted to bless you and you better accept it. Even it it was paying for a meal, or giving you money for whatever reason. 

When I would stay at naunny’s I would remember us going out to the farm to give the hands and big dad food. She would also, when I was in college come into my room and make sure I was up for work. Going to naunny’s
Meant we could eat popcorn, play video games, watch tv and movies, and eat as
much candy as we wanted from the candy drawer. 

Naunny was my favorite person! She spoke what she wanted and spoke what she thought and she did until the very end. 

If you wanted something she would get it for you. She loved selflessly. She would make foods she didn’t like, go support her grandkids, and celebrate birthdays! 

I miss her so very much, but I am glad she is getting what she wanted and not in confusion or pain anymore. She is up in Heaven with Big Dad and Jesus! I’ll see you again Naunny! I love you!

Lou Holtz once said,  “Don’t seek a life of Success. Rather seek a life of Significance.   Success dies when you die,   But Significance can last forever.”  

This morning we say goodbye to Kim’s mother-My mother in law.    June Hobgood impacted many lives in so many ways.  The Hobgood family has been so good to me.  Love and support since Kimberly and I met in 1982 and married in 1986.  They have faithfully demonstrated their support over the years. There were tough times when Kim and I were young.  They were there to help us and have always been there.  

It’s known in life that you should develop a “Why?”   Whats your Why for your life?   I try very hard to be a Blessing to my family and Bless others: That is MY WHY?    THAT IS LIVING A LIFE OF SIGNIFICANCE.  May we all seek to do the same.  

Good Bye Mrs June.  Your Significance lives on.  We will see you later.  We love you.  Tell Big Dad hello.   Dance with Jesus.   Eat all the tamales you want.  ❤️

Momma, I am having a hard time  putting into words how I am feeling,  as the woman who has been my greatest supporter my whole life has gone on to her heavenly place with Jesus, and reunited with my daddy. I am thankful you are at peace and free from the heartache and worries of this life, and limitations of your worldly body but my heart hurts because I feel the loss of your love and support already. I miss you  dearly but will see you in a little while.  

Thank you for all the memories and  for always being there for me and my family and being supportive no matter what. You and Daddy made sure I had a great childhood and provided well for us. You and Daddy created memories with us kids and grandkids through trips, times in Ruidoso, and following us around to all our activities. Your love and support will never be forgotten. You made sure all the kids and grandkids had the opportunity to go to college if we wanted because that was important to you. You left a legacy of love and support and providing memories and opportunities for family and others, and I pray I can make you proud in trying to do the same for my family and others.  

But most importantly to me you left a legacy of faith. You made sure I had the opportunity to have a relationship with my Savior Jesus Christ.  

 You have also passed down your love of football, the Texas Tech Red Raiders, and family. You shared with me the traits of perseverance, persistence, strength and faith that it took to be a successful cotton farmer with Daddy. I am so thankful I had a childhood of being raised on a farm. You and Daddy taught  me so many valuable lessons.

I am sorry for your loss.  I just want to share a memory of the second time I met your mom at the rehearsal dinner of Ben and Shannon's  wedding.   I was a little uptight not knowing what needed to be done, but June helped find some decorations and tablecloths  and helped set up the food and clean up afterward.   She was such a blessing to me.  She will be missed.

June was the hostess with the mostest!!!! I remember her hosting showers for so many in the community in her beautiful home with all of the other sweet Wolfforth women.  She set a beautiful example of giving. I was a lucky recipient of her grace and kindness and think of her anytime I host a shower. So blessed to have been in her village !!

Very nice service today. When I worked on the the farm for them. The best was when your mom pulled up in the field in the green step side. It was home plate dinner, Arby’s or Pedro’s tamales. She took care of us.

Naunny, your love will live on in my heart forever. Your strength and drive you had is one I will try to live out every day as part of your legacy. Your silly nature are memories I’ll keep and laugh upon in times of sadness as comfort. I’ll always remember the shopping trips you spoiled us with growing up. I often laugh when Big Dad said, June you can’t be going to shop anymore in town, so you resorted to the Wolffworth Dollar General just outside of town. Trips to  Ruidoso, New Mexico will always be some of my fondest memories growing up thanx to you and Big Dad.  My heart feels at peace knowing you have joined the love of your life, Big Dad and are dancing with Jesus. Tell him hello for me and that I love him. Goodbye for now, see you later. Love you! I am so sorry to hear about your sweet Mama.  I always enjoyed talking to her when she would come into the bank.  Prayers for all of you during this hard time.

My whole childhood was enmeshed with the Hobgoods. From trips to Ruidoso to trips to Six Flags to hoeing cotton and harvesting the garden. June plays a major roll in my memories. She pulled my dad back to this world when we lost Mom 3 months ago. Thank you and I love you June.

I will always remember my Aunt June’s sweet smile. I have lots of fond memories playing with my cousins at their farm. I especially loved playing in the playhouse in their backyard. Unfortunately, one day I fell into the septic area out there once, and June loaned me fresh clothes and washed the mess without a fuss. :-)

It took almost 40 years before mama June finally warmed up to me.  LOL.   She was so caring and loved her family and friends immensely.    The Hobgood family always treated me extremely well.   June liked to poke fun at me and didn’t mind me poking a little fun back at her.   She was such a strong lady.  Amazing Naunny to our children.  Loyal friend to many and a wonderful mother-n-law.   We have really enjoyed our last 6 Years together.  So thankful she is reunited with the love of her life in Darrell and dancing with Jesus.  Rest in Peace Naunny.   We love you.
