Crown Point home in Lubbock, Texas.
She was born on December 29, 1929 to Roy and Gertie Barrett in Amarillo, TX. She had one
older adoring brother, Roy Barrett, Jr. She graduated from Amarillo High School in May of 1947.
She married the love of her life, J.M. Duncan on June 16, 1947. The two shared a love story for
the ages and it is the favorite love story of her daughters and granddaughters.
She worked in the food service industry for 60 years. She was beloved by her many customers
over the years, but the most memorable was The Green Frog in Jacksboro, The Colonial
Kitchen, Horace Mitchells, and The Country Plate Diner in Lubbock, TX. She hung up her apron
at age 77 after lovingly harassing her customers for many wonderful years.
June was the proud mom of five daughters. Gail Schenk (Leonard), Rhonda Ford (Bobby),
Jamie Baack (Mike), Mica Thomas, and Sharla Gallion. Their home was filled with laughter and
love and largely grew over the years. She had 13 adoring grandchildren: Monte Schenk, Stacie
Watson (Ricky), Shelbie Belz (Greg), Floyd Alan Ford, Clarissa Fletcher (Norm), Amie
Mankhambira (Duncan), Lori Greaves (Brent), Justin Baack (Aubrie), Kyle Baack, Holly Powell,
Kelly Stevens, Logan Thomas, and Meaghan Gallion; 18 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great
grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, love of her life, J.M., daughter Gail, and
grandsons, Monte Schenk and Floyd Alan.
We express our sincere appreciation for the love and care she has received from our Crown
Point family over the last 7 ½ years.
A visitation for June will be held Monday, February 28, 2022 from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 5740 West 19th Street, Lubbock, Texas 79407. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Resthavens' Abbey Chapel, 5740 19th St., Lubbock, Texas. A graveside service will occur Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at 11:30 AM at Resthaven Memorial Park, 5740 19th St., Lubbock, Texas.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Justin Baack, Evan Walters, Ricky Watson, Kyle Baack, Mike Baack, Brent Greaves, Lennie Schenk, Logan Thomas and Greg Belz.
