Jose L Martinez

Jose Luis “Tata” Martinez, 72, departed this world and joined the love of his life and son in Heaven on March 17, 2022. He was born March 2,1950 to the late Martin and Maria de Jesus Martinez. Jose Luis married Emilia Dominguez on October 27, 1973, after he won her heart following persistent courtship of three years that spanned several cities.

They were married 47 years and built a beautiful, loving family of five. Jose was a welder for the City of Lubbock Water and Utilities Dept. He was a devoted husband who was the primary caregiver to Emilia while she battled Alzheimer’s Disease. He spent his entire life providing for his family whom he was immensely proud of. Jose will be remembered by his family and friends for his playful demeanor and his ability to find or create humor in every situation. Those that knew and loved Tata the most know that teasing was his love language. Tata was a man of few words, but when he did speak, everyone listened. He was an avid football fan, and while his family was his first love, his second loves were watching television and scratch off lottery tickets. His humor and relaxed take on life will be what his loved ones will carry with them forever.

Jose Luis was preceded in death by his wife Emilia & son Rogelio "Roy", his parents, siblings Felimon Cecilio Martinez, Rosa Maria Reyna, Alberto Martinez, Hilaria Valdez, Juan Antonio Martinez and other family and friends. He is survived by his son Ricardo Martinez and wife Cynthia Fourzán of Lubbock; daughter Jacqueline Martinez of Lubbock and two granddaughters, Amaris Roy Martinez and Zól Fourzán Martinez, who brought much joy and amusement to his life.
