Johnny (John V.) Shropshire went to be with the Lord on February 16, 2021. Johnny was born on March 7, 1941 in Colorado City, Texas to John and Iva Lee Shropshire. He was raised in Lubbock and graduated from Monterey High School in 1959. Johnny attended Texas Tech University and graduated with a Business Degree in 1964. After graduation, he began working in his family business with his father at the Shropshire Agency. Johnny was a natural people person, with the great character trait of wanting to taking care of people, and that he did. Johnny loved working with his dad and was overjoyed to welcome his son Jeff into the business. Throughout his career he became involved with many insurance organizations and received numerous certifications. He was honored to serve as Chairman of Combined Agents of America LLC and honored to serve his community as a past United Way Campaign Chairman.
Johnny was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lubbock, Texas since he was a boy. One of his fondest memories was marching to the new sanctuary. He was a member of the McMillian Sunday School class and truly enjoyed serving the church in many capacities.
Johnny married Nan Rampy on June 1, 1963. They were blessed with two sons John and Jeff and celebrated 57 years of love and devotion to one another. Johnny will be remembered as a kind man, who loved his God, family, and country. He was an incredible man with honor, integrity, one who always wanted to do the right thing, a great leader, an encourager, a great personality, a wonderful dad, and an amazing husband.
Johnny was preceded in death by his mother and father, Iva Lee, and John Shropshire; his brothers-in-law Ralph Cooper and Mike Hovan. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Nan; their two sons and their spouses: John III and Cindy Shropshire and Jeff and Kelly Shropshire all of Lubbock; his grandchildren Zach Shropshire, Bethany Shropshire, Alexandra Shropshire, and Sam Shropshire; sister, Sue Cooper of Granbury; sister-in law, Susan Hovan of Virginia; a nephew and a niece.

Memorial Services will be held on Monday, February 22, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church. The service will be live streamed on the church’s Facebook page. The family suggest memorials to the Ever-Living Trust Fund at First United Methodist Church in Lubbock, Lubbock Meals on Wheels, or the Salvation Army.
