Joe F. Tarver

Joe Tarver, 85, passed away February 20, 2012 in Lubbock. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday February 23, 2012 at Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel with Rev. John Ballard officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 22, 2012; from 6-8 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home.

He was born July 26, 1926 in Abilene, Texas to the late E.L. and Elsie Tarver. He married the late Reba Ward on March 30, 1947, in Lubbock. Joe served as President and Governor of the Local Chapter of NECA. He is Fellow Emeritus in the Academy of Electrical Contracting. Joe was an endowed member of the Mackenzie Masonic Lodge 1327 for 62 years, as well as an active member in the South Plains Lions Club. He also served as deacon in the Baptist Church. Joe was the owner of Tarver Electric Company, Electrical Contractors.

Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. Those left to cherish his memory are 3 children: Joe Tarver, Jr. and wife Peggy Johnson of Tucson, Arizona, Karan Tarver of Abilene, and Paul Tarver and wife Penny of Lubbock, four grandchildren; Matthew Tarver-Wahlquist, Sarah Tarver-Wahlquist, Paige Tarver of Lubbock, and Payne Tarver of Lubbock, two great grandchildren; Carter and Hazel, and one brother; Bill Tarver. Joe was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
