Jeane went to heaven Thursday, April 3, 2014. Jeane was born January 19,1932, in Ramer, Alabama, to Annie Mae and Jesse Edwin Morriss. She grew up in Wetumpka, Alabama. Jeane and her husband Dan Law met in the fifth grade, and they began dating during the summer of 1952, while Jeane was home from Auburn University and Dan was home from Alabama University. They were married in Wetumpka, Alabama, in the summer of 1954. After Dan served in the Army, they moved to Lubbock in August 1955, for Dan to play football and finish his education at Texas Tech. During those years Jeane taught third grade at A.C. Jackson Elementary. Jeane’s passion was telling others about the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ. She did this daily by the way she lived her life and through her service as President of the Texas Women’s Missionary Union and in various other organizations: First Baptist Church Lubbock, Lubbock Baptist Association, The Sherrick Retirement Home, Contact Lubbock, and Wayland Baptist University. She is survived by her husband of 60 years Dan Law, daughter Jan Thetford and husband David, son Dee Law, son Sam Law and wife Julie, son Tom Law and wife D’Linda, as well as her sisters Annie Mae Connelly and Mary Clacker, and nine grandchildren. Visitation will be Sunday, April 6, 2014, in the First Baptist Church parlor from 4 to 6 p.m. at Broadway and Avenue V.
The Celebration of Life service will be held Monday, April 7, 2104, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the WMU Jeane Law Leadership Development Endowment Fund, 2230 Indiana Avenue, Lubbock, Texas 79410.
