Isaiah James Mata, age 33 of Lubbock, Texas passed away on Sunday July 7, 2024. Born to Lori Mata on September 27, 1990. Isaiah was a believer in Christ. He worked for Louis Dreyfus Transport Lgstcs. as a lift driver, where he would attend Bible Study with his co-workers. Isaiah had a smile that could brighten a room, he also made sure to give you one of his big hugs every time he saw you, a very well-mannered respectful young man. That was something his grandfather Jimmy Mata taught him, that's what brought them close together, he wanted to be like his grandfather. He was a lot like his grandfather Jimmy, he was a hard worker that loved to work with his hands (the only time he would get dirty). Isaiah was very family oriented that he cared deeply for his Mother Lori Mata (his everything) , he had a love for his two brothers Luis Jr., and Pedro, and loved his niece Neveaha, but also loved to discipline her. Isaiah enjoyed watching WWE wrestling w/his family & UFC. He had a love for the Dallas Cowboys & Texas Tech Football. He leaves behind his beloved dog Jazzy.
He is survived by his Mother Lori Mata, two brothers Luis Calderon Jr., Pedro Calderon, niece Neveaha Calderon, Grandmother Janie Mata, Aunt Angie Mata, and his Pops Luis Calderon Sr. All of Lubbock, Texas and his aunt Tanya & Vince Ortega of Amarillo, Texas. Preceding in death is Grandfather Jimmy Mata, great grandparents Juan & Sofia Castillo, and great grandmother Helen Mata.
Visitation is at Resthaven Funeral Home on Thursday July 18 from 4pm-8pm. A Celebration of life will occur at Resthaven on Friday July 19 at 10am, followed by the Graveside service.
