Glenna Belle Roberts, born August 26, 1929 to Corbett Lee and Cecelia Webb Roberts in Sweetwater, Oklahoma died August 9, 2023. She grew up on a farm in Earth, Texas and attended Texas Tech University where she received a Bachelor and a Master’s degree before embarking on a 30 year teaching career at George R. Bean Elementary School in Lubbock, Texas. A gifted musician and artist, Glenna taught piano lessons, wrote music and enjoyed painting.
After retiring from teaching, Glenna became involved in the Retired Teachers Association of Lubbock, developed a fascination with genealogy and spent many long hours on her computer researching her ancestry. She also became dedicated to facilitating geriatric care through a rewarding relationship with the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center – Garrison Institute on Aging.
Glenna was a lifelong member of the First Methodist Church in Earth, Texas, but she enjoyed fellowship at Forest Heights Methodist Church in Lubbock for many years. Preceded in death by her beloved parents, Glenna was an only child who enjoyed close relationships with her many cousins and their families. Special thanks to all of the dedicated sitters at Home Instead, the nurses at Carillon House, the staff at Noble Care Solutions, and the many doctors and physician assistants who provided Glenna’s care.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Lubbock. Private graveside services will be in Springlake, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
