Esther Lara Gomez

She was born on February 11, 1931 in Thrall,Texas to David and Aurora Lara. Growing up as a migrant worker her family would travel From Texas to Wisconsin, eventually settling in Lubbock, Texas. It was there that she met the love of her life, Sotero Lopez Gomez. They were married 61 years with three beautiful children.

She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who was always there when you needed her. Esther was a devoted member of the United Methodist church and proudly served as the Treasurer for the La Trinidad UMC Women’s group. You could always find her working in her garden, tending to her many flowers with roses being her favorite, humming in her kitchen where she loved to cook for those she loved. She loved to craft and could be found drawing,sewing, crocheting, or quilting.

Esther is preceded in death by her husband Sotero Lopez Gomez; parents David and Aurora Lara; brothers: Paul Lara, Eliseo Lara, David Lara, Esteban Lara, and Danny Lara; sisters: Isidra Olivarez, Martha De La Rosa, and Juana Betz.

Esther's memory will live on through her children: Sotero Gomez Jr and wife Modesta, Victoria Medina and Mike Duarte, Diana Gomez Lara, Joshua Montijo; grandchildren: Michelle and husband Eddie Flores, Anthony Medina, Alyssa Medina, Arial Montijo, Aaron and wife Erika Montijo, Elianna and husband Michael Moore; great-grandchildren: Kobe, Keira, and Mateo Montijo; sisters: Abigail Ortiz, Elizabeth Arredondo, and Connie Lara; brother Noe Lara; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

We would like to thank Legacy of Love for caring and loving Esther like one of their own in the end. As well as Dr. Ordonez for always being attentive towards the family.

The family invites you to celebrate her life with a visitation on Friday, August 19, 2022 from 6pm-8pm with a Celebration of Life at 7pm. Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 10am in Resthaven Memorial Park.
