Douglas L. Guinn, a resident of Lubbock, Texas, passed away on February 7, 2023 at the age of 89 years old. He was born December 5, 1933 in Booneville Arkansas. He moved to Lubbock in 1948 where he attended Lubbock High School and Texas Tech University.
Doug was in sales all his life and spent most of his career as a food broker where he was the recipient of many outstanding sales awards. He was easy to talk to and made many friends wherever he went. He met his future wife in high school biology class. He was so desperate to get her attention, he couldn’t help but channel his inner prankster by running his pencil up and down her zipper. After 5 years of dating, they were married in 1955 and recently celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary.
Doug and Patsy traveled extensively both domestically and internationally. They were able to visit 68 different countries and many of them more than once. His favorite trip was a camera safari to South Africa. Doug was an avid hunter and fisherman for much of his life.
He was a faithful member of the Lubbock Lions Club and the Lubbock Executive Association for many years.
He is survived by his wife Patsy (Howard) Guinn, his sister Joyce (Guinn) Nollen, his daughter Marla O’Hair (Brant) her children Micah O’Hair (Sally), Shelby Stanley (Cliff), and Cassidy Batty (Chris). His son Brent Guinn (Cindy), his children Courtney Riggan (Greg), Brianna Jordan (Chance) and 15 great grandchildren.
He was welcomed into heaven by his parents Herman and Rosemond (Leftwich) Guinn, brother Donald N. Guinn, and his grandson Thomas Taylor O’Hair.
A graveside service for Douglas will be held Friday, February 10, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Resthaven Cemetery, 5740 West 19th St, Lubbock, TX 79407.
