Rhonda Kay Hageman of Loveland, Colorado passed away August 2, 2021 at Seven Lakes Memory Care due to complications from Alzheimer’s disease. Rhonda was born on August 23, 1954 in Cando, North Dakota to Hubert Ronald Halling and Beverly Jane (Silliman) Halling. She married Neal Hageman on May 8, 1976 in Spearfish, South Dakota. She was preceded in death by her father who passed away on November 5, 1997. Her surviving family members include her husband Neal Hageman, two children Eric Hageman and Jennifer Hageman, her mother Beverly Halling, and three sisters Cherise Webster, Mary Kennon and Carol Gengler.
The Halling family moved from North Dakota to Spearfish, South Dakota, in 1964 when Rhonda was 10 years old. Rhonda attended the Spearfish High School, graduating in 1972. She attended South Dakota State University, Brookings, South Dakota, graduating in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Rhonda attended SDSU on a Lutheran Hospitals and Homes Scholarship and was an SDSU Briggs Scholar graduating with Highest Honors. She went on to attend the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska, graduating with Highest Honors in 1984 with a Master of Science in Nursing. She further advanced her education by attending Regis University, Denver, Colorado, graduating in 1996 with a Family Nurse Practitioner degree.
Rhonda was very dedicated to her nursing career working as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner for 37 years in various settings including hospitals, health care clinics, private industry and as a University nursing instructor.
Rhonda was a loving mother and grandmother. She especially enjoyed interacting with children and liked spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, especially baking. She liked to garden and raise her own vegetables. She collected holiday village pieces and gave full sets to her two children. She enjoyed various types of music and found music to be very relaxing. In high school, she played the piano, organ and clarinet. She had originally planned to major in music in college, but changed to nursing when she started her education at SDSU.
Rhonda enjoyed traveling throughout the United States with her family. She also traveled to Canada, Mexico, Dominican Republic, France, Switzerland, Austria and Italy. She liked going on drives in the local area and enjoyed seeing the Colorado mountain scenery and wildlife.
