2024, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Texas on October 26, 1965, Monica
lived a life defined by compassion, creativity, and unwavering devotion to those she
held dear.
A loving wife to Marvin, devoted daughter to Nancy and Donald, cherished sister to
Don (Julie), and Matthew (Lauren), and an extraordinary mother to Desarare,
Dominique, Christina, and Sharelle, Monica's heart knew no bounds. She also
embraced Marvin’s children, Lewis, Ashley, and Jenifer. Together, Monica and Marvin
opened their home and hearts to foster over 75 children, adopting three—Jaysen,
Emma, and Ryver—who they loved as their own.
Monica’s legacy of love extended to her grandchildren—Sarah, Gracie, Alex, Kennedy,
Ozzy, Ani, Maddie, Eligh, and Onyx—and her great‐grandchild, Cevan. Her family was
her greatest joy and most profound accomplishment.
Balancing motherhood, work, and an insatiable thirst for learning, Monica earned her
degree in liberal arts while fostering children full‐time. She was a talented massage
therapist who worked alongside her beloved mother, Nancy. Monica also channeled
her creativity into her art, becoming an accomplished writer and published author, as
well as an artist with a gift for drawing and painting.
Monica had an unshakable ability to find beauty in life’s challenges. Whether through
her love of the mountains or her dedication to fostering children, she gave selflessly
and made sacrifices to ensure that everyone she cared for had what they needed. Her
generosity and strength left an indelible mark on the countless lives she touched. Her
family, friends, and community will forever remember Monica as a beacon of love,
hope, and resilience. Though she has departed this world, her light will continue to
shine in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of Monica’s life will be held on November 22, 2024 at Berthoud Family
Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Monica’s
honor to the "Help Marvin Continue Monica's Legacy of Love" fundraiser at
https://gofund.me/d5971a5a, supporting her children, Marvin and foster children in
need.
Rest in peace, Monica. Your love and legacy will live on forever.
