Chris was born July 26, 1959, to Dale and “Deta” (Koborg) Adams in Alliance, NE. In 1961, Chris and his family moved to Scottsbluff, NE. There he attended Scottsbluff public schools, graduating from Scottsbluff High School in 1977. Chris then went on to attend Kearney State College and Western NE Community College.
For much of his life, Chris was in the radio/voice business, working at KOLT in Scottsbluff, & KHAS in Hastings, NE as an announcer, then Music Director. In 1985 he settled in Fort Collins, CO where he worked at Hastings Records and KTCL radio. Chris worked his way up from Music Director to Assistant Program Director for KTCL and Assistant Manager at Hastings Records. He was fortunate enough to see countless concerts, interview musicians, emcee events, and hang out backstage with bands. When KTCL moved to Denver, Chris started working for the sister stations of KIIX/KCOL, where he was Assistant Sports Director and CSU Game Day Producer for the CSU Radio Network. In later years, Chris used his talented voice to create on hold messaging and commercial voice overs.
Chris always said he had a wonderful life and loved reliving those memories with others. He would recount the epic football touchdown against Alliance High School during his senior year and the summers spent golfing at the Scottsbluff Country Club. Chris got to see his beloved Grand Funk RR, Rush, and Tool in concert. He was excited to see his favorite teams, the Oakland A’s, L.A./St Louis Rams, Huskers, and recently the Denver Nuggets, all win championships. On Nov 21, 2022, Chris made a hole-in-one playing frisbee golf, after playing nearly every week for years. He loved to travel and was in the process of seeing all 50 states. He made it to 43 including Alaska and Hawaii.
Chris’s greatest joy was raising his two children, Kelsey and Cale. His kids will forever remember him for his goofy “Chris-isms,” the way he could fill a room with laughter and how he always pushed them to learn new things no matter how challenging they seemed. In 2019 he was able to walk Kelsey down the aisle.
Survivors include Kari (Daugherty) wife of 35 years, daughter Kelsey and husband Josh, son Cale and companion Maggie, sisters Marcia Keller and Mary Lou (Charles) Neumann, brother-in-law Doug (Jackie) Daugherty, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends that became family.
Preceded in death are Chris’s parents, parents-in-law, brother-in-law Don Keller, and sister-in-law Janelle Daugherty.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to set up a memorial bench or frisbee golf memorial in his honor. Cremation will take place with a Celebration of Life at a later date.
