Wayburn Riggs, 91, of Louisville, passed away July 19, 2024. He was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. His career centered around his love of woodworking, which he put to use for many years as a master craftsman.
“A man is not better than his word”, words of guidance he spoke and lived. A private person, the acquaintance of many, known by few. A man of ambition and desire, not for himself but for his children who he faithfully carried upon his shoulders that they might climb higher. He lived with unwavering devotion to Christian faith. When asked if there was something he wanted said, he simply replied, “I tried.”
Wayburn was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille “Lucy” Webb Riggs; parents, Harvy and Cleoda Riggs; brothers, Charles, Calvin, and Robert; and sisters, Desi and Isabel. He is survived by his children, Douglas Riggs(Sabina), Janice Freibert(Larry), and Dwayne Riggs(Natalie); grandchildren, Misty Drye, Aaron Riggs, Elijah Riggs, and Abigail Riggs; step-grandchildren, Miriam Hunter and Matthew Hunter; great-grandchild, Caliegh Drye; brothers, Gilbert Riggs(Molly) and Donald Riggs; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 12pm Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at Evergreen Funeral Home with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:30pm-8pm Tuesday and 11am-12pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
