Virginia "Jinks" Wilkerson

Virginia “Jinks” Ray Wilkerson, 86, of Louisville passed away November 3, 2011 at Norton Healthcare Pavilion surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 14, 1925 to the late Ray Keeling and Anna Rose Gordon.

She grew up in Willisburg, Kentucky and was an avid traveler who enjoyed numerous trips to Opryland. She was a former member of Harmony Baptist Church and a current member of Ninth & O Baptist Church.

She was retired from the Jefferson County Public School System as a reading and math teacher’s assistant. She was a proud lifetime member of the PTA. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Edison Wilkerson; and a sister, Linda Malone.

She is survived by her children, John Frederick Wilkerson (Beverly), James Ray Wilkerson (Denise) and Suzanne Wilkerson; a sister, Sandra Parker; and a brother, Mitchell G. Keeling (Betty); six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was loved dearly and leaves behind many happy memories with those who knew her.

A service honoring her life will be conducted Tuesday November 8, 2011 at noon at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be from 2-8 on Monday and from 10-12 on Tuesday at the funeral home.
