Thomas Milton, 82, passed away peacefully in his home in Louisville, KY on March 15, 2023. Tom was born August 17, 1940 in Louisville, KY to Edward Everett Jr. and Pauline (Froman) Milton. He had two older brothers, (Gene and Edward) and a younger sister (Ramona). He graduated from DuPont Manual High School in 1959, lettering in varsity basketball. His senior year, he led Manual to win the Louisville Invitational Tournament, District and Regional Championships and Runner-up honors at the State Championship. He attended Bellarmine College and Western Kentucky University and was a member of both men’s basketball teams. His entire working career was in the automotive repair and parts business in Louisville.
From the late 1960s to 1971, He was co-owner/operator of Milton’s Service Station with his older brother Edward Everett III. From 1971 – 1982 he was a parts salesman at V.V. Cooke Chevrolet and from 1982 to his retirement in 1995, he was an automotive parts distributor throughout Kentucky and Indiana for Broadway Chevrolet.
He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed family camping and an annual family vacation to Myrtle Beach, S.C. During his retirement years, he enjoyed high school reunions, visiting with friends and spending time helping his family. He loved watching University of Kentucky, University of Louisville, and Kansas University college basketball on TV.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55-years, Sandra Calhoun; parents; and brother Gene Milton. He leaves behind many special memories with his family; brother Edward Everett Milton III; sister Ramona Setser; son U.S. Army Colonel (Ret) Stephen Milton; daughter-in-law Amy, Sister-in-law Suzann (Don) Thompson, and three grandchildren, Ellie, Anna, and Wyatt.
Tom will be remembered as a selfless man that put the needs of family before himself. He dedicated his time, energy and his love to his wife, son, mother and sister – always there to help with an errand; a car ride to the store; a home repair, and his loving support as a husband, father, and older brother. He will be missed.
