Theodore Gibson, 104, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2019 at the home of his daughter and son in law. He was born, July 15, 1915 in Van Wert, Ohio to the late Ewel Gibson and Laura Ellen Mason Gibson, and grew up in Pineville, Kentucky.
He was a life long member of the Ironworkers Local # 70, founded the local's apprenticeship program and led it for over 40 years. He was an active member of Walnut Street Baptist Church for many years, and for the last 20 plus years, a member of Westport Road Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Mary Cole Gibson, and son Richard Cole Gibson. He is survived by daughter, Mary Beth Peters (Bob); son, Ted Gibson (Judy); six grandchildren, Melissa Brown (Tom), Sarah Lyverse (Scott), Katie Thomas (Adam), Rob Peters (Rachel), Ashley Gibson, Alyssa Gibson; nine great-grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter.
Services to celebrate Mr. Gibson's life will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, August 2, 2019, in the sanctuary of Westport Road Baptist Church, 9705 Westport Road, with private entombment at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the church, Thursday 5:00 to 8:00pm and after 1:00pm Friday.
