Susan Lea King, 70 of Louisville, passed away September 6, 2020. She was born January 27, 1950 to the late William Ackerman, II and Virginia Potts Ackerman. Susan was a payroll clerk for Dri-View Manufacturing for over 20 years. She will be remembered by her co-workers, friends, and former classmates for being so genuinely sweet and caring, and who always had a kind word to say and the most gentle smile.
She was an adoring wife and mother who loved her family more than anything. She was Mom to devoted son Kevin. The bond between Mother and Son is a special one and he was always there to make sure she had what she needed, which she appreciated so much. She loved her special time with her granddaughter Grace—spoiling her on shopping trips and lunch dates. Vacations at the beach were her favorite, as were the many Girls Trips with daughters Tara and Lori, along with Grace.
Susan and her devoted husband Cliff marked their 51st Anniversary on August 30th. They enjoyed years of vacations to the beach, the Smoky Mountains, or just a weekend in Nashville to go shopping. Susan was his world. Together since high school, theirs was a true love story. Susan was beautiful inside and out and Heaven has truly gained an angel.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother: William Ackerman, III.
Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband: Cliff King; her children: Kevin King, Tara Duff (Mark), and Lori Derry (Jason); and her granddaughter: Grace Derry.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
A memorial service will be held 12 PM Monday, September 14, 2020 at Arch L Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home 4400 Bardstown Rd Louisville, KY 40218. Visitation will be 3-7 PM Sunday, September 13, 2020 at the funeral home.
