Sherian Cooper-Abrams (Sparks), 65, of Louisville passed from this life on Thursday January 22, 2015 at Clark Memorial Hospital. Sherian was a retired special education teacher. She received her Masters of Education degree from U of L in 1977, and her Masters of Arts from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1988. Among other accomplishments Sherian was an ordained minister, a professional clown with the Kentuckiana Daisy Clowns, a professional ventriloquist, a charter member of the Louisville Dream Factory, and she taught children’s ministries and piano. She was a 1999 Bell Award recipient for outstanding community service. Sherian devoted her entire life to helping others and serving the community. She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Earl Sparks, Sr. and her parents, Winfred B. Sparks and Ilda Lois Crenshaw Sparks. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Patrick Abrams; a daughter Judith Cooper (Russell Ferrell); a brother, Wendall Sparks (Lisa); a sister, Tamala Sparks Durbin (John); a sister in-law, Barbara Sparks; a granddaughter, Ava Cooper; and nephews, Robert Earl, Jr., Jeremy, Daniel, and Brandon. Cremation was chosen. There will be a celebration of Sherian’s life with pictures and music from 2-8 pm Saturday January 24, 2015 in the Southern Chapel of Arch L. Heady & Son, 3601 Taylor Blvd. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 pm Saturday. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to the Alzheimer’s Association of Kentucky or The Shamrock Foundation.
