Sandra Ritter "Sandy" Thurman, 59, of Louisville went to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, October 28, 2014, surrounded by her family. Sandy was born on March 30, 1955 in Louisville to George Edward Ritter and Jewel Ritter Sanders.
Sandy was a member of Highland Park First Baptist Church.
Sandy was very caring and giving to others, especially her family, as she was the most unselfish person.
Sandy loved spending time with her grandchildren, square dancing and traveling with her fiancé, Steve, going to Gatlinburg many times. Sandy always had a good time, and could be recognized by her contagious laugh.
Sandy is preceded in death by her father, George Edward Ritter.
Sandy has left to cherish her memory, her loving companion, Steve Garvey; sons, Gary Thurman (Melissa) and Tim Thurman (Tiffany); mother, Jewel Sanders (Earl); sisters, Kim Bobsin (Andy) and Brenda Nash (Dennis); brother, Jerry Hazelwood (Janice); children of Steve Garvey, Dana Garvey, Shelly Ball (Shane), and Stephanie Chahalis (Mitchell); step siblings, Deanne, Danny, Kathy, and Kerry; grandchildren, Jenna, Drew, and Jake Thurman; step-grandchildren, Joey and Jadea; many loving nieces and nephews; and special friends, Paul Pruitt, Tommy Bryant, and Robin Richardson.
There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Sandy at noon on Friday, October 31, 2014 at Evergreen Funeral Home Dignity Chapel. Entombment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation for the public will be from 12-8pm on Thursday and from 10am-12pm on Friday.
Memorial donations in honor of Sandy can be directed to James Graham Brown Cancer Center, envelopes provided at the funeral home.
