Roscoe Lee Stillwell, 93, of Louisville, passed away from this life to heaven on Saturday, January 19, 2013. He was a native of LaRue County, Kentucky and a retiree from American Saw and Tool Company, after 33 years of service as a machinist. He was the longest living member of Okolona Baptist Church where he loved to spend his days working on the church grounds. He had been a deacon, a superintendant and Sunday school teacher and a boy scout leader. He was described as a friend to all.
Among those that preceded him in death were his parents, Edward Stillwell and Oma Hash Miller; his sister, Edna Piezynski and a brother Earl Stillwell.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 73 years, Carrie Lucille Kaufman Stillwell; children, Norman (Judy), David (Joyce) Stillwell, Carole Baumgardner (Bryant Boyle); sister, Bertha Miller; grandchildren, Stephen Stillwell, Bryan (Gina) Stillwell, Susan (Bill) Wead, Angela (Jorge) Blanco, Andrea Baumgardner (David Besancon), Ashley (Roger) Sadler; and six great-grandchildren, Chelsea and Sydney Stillwell, Madalyn and Ryan Wead, and Diego and Camillo Blanco; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A Life Celebration service will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2013, at noon, at the Okolona Baptist Church, 9301 Preston Hwy, with interment in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3-8 p.m. at the Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home, 4400 Bardstown Road. He will lie in state at church on Thursday from 10 a.m. till service time.
