Roland “Wayne” Hedgespeth, Jr., returned to his Heavenly Father on Sunday, January 28, 2024 after an extended battle with pancreatitis. Wayne was born in St. Louis, Missouri on December 28, 1967 to Sandra (Jensen) Hedgespeth and the late Roland D. Hedgespeth, Sr.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Deborah (Mills) Hedgespeth; sister, Donna Ruth Hedgespeth; and his father.
Wayne was an industrial electrician for Electrical Instrumentation World. He traveled all around the United States for his work and having a part in many critical foundations in the electrical engineering and implementation of nuclear power plants all over the southwest.
Wayne was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous, where he readily helped in humbly setting up, making the all-important coffee-strong, as we like it-chairing meetings, and fundraising for various functions in the program. He was on the Louisville Host Committee, where he worked to help plan and implement the Fall City Convention, yearly. He readily shared his experience, strength and hope in recovery with friends, family and sponsees’.
He is survived by his mother, Sandra Hedgespeth; sister, Lorrie Vinson; nephew, Alex Vinson; niece, Taylor Vinson; and great nephew, Carter; and a host of extended family and friends.
Wayne, while not entirely convinced of any one doctrine of religion, certainly believed in a higher power, who loved us unconditionally. For Wayne, this is not goodbye, but more of a, “See you down the road”.
Memorial visitation will be held at 5 pm on Friday, February 2, 2024 at Arch L Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home (4400 Bardstown Rd.). There will be a prayer service at 7 pm. Friends may pay their respects from 5 pm until 8 pm.
