Robert David Younger

Robert David Younger, 68, passed away, on November24,2013, following an extended illness. He was born in Louisville, KY on March 18, 1945. He attended Louisville Male High School and served in the US Navy on the USS Jupiter. After discharge from the Navy he lived in Louisville and then Albuquerque, New Mexico for the past 35 years. Robert retired in 2007 from Teamsters Local 492, in Albuquerque, after 30 years, starting as Business Agent, Trustee, President, Secretary-Treasurer (Principal Officer).

He is survived by three children, Gary Younger, (Peggy) of Corpus Christie TX, Deborah Younger of Albuquerque NM, and Michelle Sliz (John) of Farmington Hills MI, nine grand-children, Cole Younger (Vikki), David Younger(Tasha), Christopher Younger, Amanda Younger, all of Phoenix AZ and Ashley Younger of Corpus Christie TX, Randy Fass (Julie) and Billy Fass of Albuquerque NM, Autumn and Joseph Sliz of Farmington Hills MI and two great grand-children, Rose and Emy Younger of Phoenix AZ, a sister Jane Younger, two brothers George B. Younger, Jr., Gene R. Younger, Sr., and nieces and nephews, especially Jennifer and Brian Vaughn, who cared for him, all of Louisville, KY. He was predeceased by his wife of almost 50 years, Sandra C. Younger and his mother and father, George B. Younger Sr. and Margueritte Younger.

Robert was a devoted husband and father; a loving son and brother. Robert and his wife traveled extensively in their RV, enjoying annual trips to the West Coast and Louisville and being surrounded by their family. Robert will be remembered for his tireless energy and willingness to help those in need, particularly veterans. In 2005, in conjunction with a local radio station, he was instrumental in collecting food and supplies and transporting six truckloads for Hurricane Katrina survivors.

Cremation was selected with inurnment in Resthaven Memorial Park in Louisville KY. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (WoundedWarriorProject.org.) Arch L. Heady at Resthaven are in charge of final arrangements.
