Rita was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grand mother, friend and artist.
Rita lived in Okolona her entire life and graduated from Okolona High School in 1947. She married her high school sweetheart William on February 19, 1949. Rita was a creative and passionate artist, devoting her time to capturing God's beauty in and around Louisville and the state of Kentucky. Rita attended the University of Louisville, where she was a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society. She graduated in 2005, at the age of 75, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. Rita was devoted to her community. She was a charter member of the Okolona Women's Club as well as the Artist in Residence for the Kentucky Federated Women's club. Rita was one of the original members of the Plein Air Painters of Kentucky where she continued to paint until her death.
Rita left this earth to join her parents Ana Adeline and Theodore Peyton; her husband, William A. Neblett; a brother-in-law Murrell F. Neblett; sister-in-law, Shirley Taylor; and her granddaughter Rachel Neblett in heaven.
Rita is survived by four children, Sheila Neblett Stanton (Ralph), William Peyton Neblett, Neil Lamar Neblett (Kim), and Mark Freeman Neblett (Donna); six grandchildren, five great-grand children, and a host of family and friends.
Her funeral service will be held noon Saturday at Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Services-Okolona. Visitation will be on Thursday, 5-8 p.m. and Friday from 2-8 p.m. Burial is at Resthaven Memorial Park.
