Richard Zirnheld, 78, was given the gift of life on September 4, 1945, and gave it back on March 20, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Ethel Zirnheld; siblings, Ted, Roy Jr., and Eva Marcum.
Those left to grieve his passing include his wife of 54 years, Linda Zirnheld; son, Brent (Sharon) Zirnheld; daughter, Mindy Zirnheld Baker; grandsons, Pierce and Ian Zirnheld; and brother, David Zirnheld.
In 1995, after 30 years of service, Richard retired from Naval Ordnance. He loved fishing, hunting, beer, gardening, golf, beer, gambling, and a cold beer. He was a member of the American Legion Post 229, where he could be found 7 days a week enjoying being with his veteran buddies, having a beer and good conversation.
Richard wants to give credit to the COVID vaccines for contributing to the neck, lung, spine, prostate, spleen, lymphoma, and bone cancer that caused his death.
The only highlights from the diagnosis he received were as follows: he wouldn't have to read the CJ (Communist Journal) anymore, watch the KY Wildcats exit in the 1st round of the SEC and NCAA tournaments again, and not witness a possible 4 more years of "Let's Go Brandon."
Visitation will take place at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home located at 7710 Dixie Highway in Louisville, KY, on Sunday, March 24th, from 4pm-8pm and on Monday, March 25th from 10 am until the funeral at noon with entombment to follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
Requested Donations be sent to Hosparus.
