Richard “Rick” Drummond, 93, of Louisville, passed away on December 13, 2024. Born on May 14, 1931, in Lumberport, WV, Rick was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a cherished friend to many.
Rick’s life was defined by his steadfast love and dedication to his family. He married his first wife, Lee, in 1956 and together they shared 43 wonderful years before her passing. They raised four children: Lisa, Jeff, Julie, and Amy. After Lee’s death, Rick found love again in Earline, who brought renewed light and joy into his life for the past 24 years. Rick warmly embraced Earline’s children as his own, creating a blended family he treasured deeply.
A devoted grandfather, Rick took immense pride in his grandchildren. Whether biological or step, he loved them all unconditionally and relished his time with them. He was a man of integrity, with a quiet strength and unwavering devotion to his family.
Rick is survived by his wife, Earline; his daughters Lisa (David) Woolet, Julie D. Raque, and Amy Smith (Dale); his stepchildren Connie (Chris) Moorhead and Billy (Melissa) Hilbert; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lee; his sons, Jeff and Randy; his son-in-law, Larry Raque; his stepdaughter, Beth Caldwell; his step granddaughter, Sarah Hilbert and his parents, Emory and Virginia Drummond.
Rick’s career as a personnel manager at Carrier Vibrating Equipment reflected his strong work ethic and commitment to others. A proud veteran, he served in the United States Air Force from February 1952 to February 1956, stationed in Okinawa, Japan, where he developed a love for motorcycling and explored the island on two wheels. Rick was also an avid golfer and car enthusiast. If he wasn’t playing 18-holes in his signature UK blue golf cart you could find him in his driveway taking meticulous care of his darling red Mustang.
A celebration of Rick’s life will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024, at Resthaven Funeral Home in Louisville, KY. Visitation will be from 12:00 – 2:00 pm followed by the service at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the James Graham Brown Cancer Center.
