Rebecca Breit

She was preceded in death by her husband Jack L. Breit, her parents Mary (Mills) Medley and Thomas Medley, Brothers Thomas, Charles, Jimmy, Leo Paul “Sonny”, and Edward Medley, Sisters Elizabeth Devereaux, Alice Louise Voll (Chicago), and Teresa “Pat” Murphy. Her surviving brother is Joseph Medley.

Becky is survived by her children Sherry Steier (Chip) and Marc L. Breit (Lisa); grandchildren Chad Steier, Jaclyn Rueff (Alan), Rachel Wallace (John), Austin Jack Breit, Ava Breit, and great grandchildren Eleanor Rueff, Beau Rueff, and Macie Wallace.

She was born July 24, 1932, the second youngest of 10 children, and raised in south Louisville. Becky worked at Phillip Morris while attending, and then graduating from, Mercy Academy High School. Thereafter she became a Cosmetologist and married Jack L. Breit at 19 years of age. Jack & Becky were inspiring and loving parents, and as a couple lived life during the decades of the 50s, 60s, 70's, and 80s until Jack's passing in 1988. Together, they both worked hard - Jack as a bricklayer and co-owner of Central Construction Company and Becky as a full-time mom and part-time hair stylist in her basement - collectively they created a profound childhood environment. She played the piano, was a member of the Rockeretts dance group, and was an avid Bingo player. Becky was tough and determined in all aspects of her life, and always with a big heart. She was a perfect Mother-in-Law and Grandmother, and an avid sports fan always going to her grandchildren’s games. Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren.

She was a member of St. Albert Catholic Church and past member of St. Stephen Martyr. The last 2 years she resided at Belmont Village, a wonderful place with many angels that work there. She has now joined her Heavenly Father as well as Jack, family, and friends.

Please join us to celebrate her life, with remembrances, on Saturday November 11, 2023 at Resthaven 4400 Bardstown Rd - Visitation Noon-4pm with Funeral Service at 4pm in the funeral home Chapel. On Monday, a private placement in the mausoleum, alongside Jack, will take place within Resthaven Memorial Park.
