A faithful Christian, loving wife and devoted mother, Queenetta cared for young and old as a licensed practical nurse at Children’s Hospital, various nursing homes and in private homes for over 40 years. Even after retiring, she continued to volunteer nursing services to her neighbors. Queenetta’s generosity was remarkable. All her life, she selflessly helped others with no expectations of anything in return.
A strong believer in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, Queenetta was a familiar face to members of the Watson Memorial Baptist Church. She was one of the first to join shortly after WMBC was established in 1963. She loved to praise the Lord singing beside other members of the choir and from within the congregation.
Queenetta adored animals—rescuing and providing loving homes to many pets over the years including dogs Diva, Dollie, Andy and Bernie; and a parrot named Peetie. Queenetta used to ride her bicycle with Dollie in the basket and more recently, would take Bernie on walks to see the ducks at the pond or drive him to area parks for longer walks.
Gardening was a favorite pastime and Queenetta could often be seen tending to her flowers, trimming hedges or raking leaves in her yard. She enjoyed being outside and was very physically active.
Queenetta was supportive of her children, grandchild and great grandchildren, attending all graduations, and numerous sporting events, recitals, concerts, school presentations and other events. She was intimately involved in raising them all and had a deep personal bond with each one.
Queenetta will be lovingly remembered by her husband William Edward; daughters Crystal and Cherylonda; son William Eric; granddaughter Laurel; and great grandchildren Erica and Charlie. She is preceded in death by parents Rufus and Carrie Sullivan; Uncle Paul, who was like a brother to her, siblings Rufus Jr. “Junie,” Robert “Bobbie,” Collier, Ann, Betty and brother James, who passed away as an infant.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2021, at 11am at Watson Memorial Baptist Church, 7217 Nachand Lane, Louisville KY 40218. A slideshow celebration of Queenetta's life will be available for viewing immediately following the service until 1pm.
