Pamela Sparks

Born November 5, 1949 in Danville, KY to Dorothy Ruth Elliott-Graham Holt Tipton and Elmer T. Holt. She is preceded in death by her parents Dorothy and Elmer. Her stepfather Nelson Tipton, brother Graham Holt and sister Patricia Holt McCoy.

She is survived by her Daughter Kelly Ramsey (Forest III) and grandson, Forest L. Ramsey IV. Her son Edward Sparks and granddaughter Haley Sparks.

Pam, our beloved mother, nanny, and friend made her entrance into heaven on October 9, 2023. Where do I even begin, mom was an amazing woman with so many stories of a life well lived. She grew up in a small town of Danville, KY where everyone knew the Holts. She was a friend too many and always was the first to volunteer to help someone or pitch in when help was needed. She loved children and babies and started babysitting at a very early age. She belonged to the co-ed softball league. Her family moved to Lexington during her sophomore year, and she attended and graduated from LaFayette High School in 1967. She loved bowling and started working at the Southland Lanes in Lexington Ky in high school. After high school she worked and volunteered at the local VA in Lexington while deciding on a career. She loved visiting her family in VA where she would go boating and water skiing in the summers. She lived in a few different states before having her children and eventually settling down in Elizabethtown, KY where she has resided for almost 30 years. After her grandson was born 2006, she ended up staying with her daughter in Louisville where she had the best job ever - watching and caring for her grandson. She was over the moon and loved every minute of those days. In 2010 she started helping her daughter create a business and was an intricate part of its success which continues today and will be forever part of its history.

Mom was independent, very motivated and hardworking throughout her life. Mom would take what life gave her and she made the very best of it. She became a single mom early in our lives and that never stopped her. Mom made sure that her kids grew up with every opportunity there was. She instilled this in her children as well. She taught them to go after their dreams and she would be there if they ever needed her. No matter what job she had, she was the very best and would work her way up the ranks. She was a hands-on grandma and helped raise her grandson Forest and helped her daughter bring her dream of owning her own business to life. She worked with her daughter side by side as a chocolatier for the past 12 years and was the house grandma. Everyone loved Pam, she was funny, honest and full of life and life advice.

Mom had many interests and passions along the way. She had a green thumb and loved her flowerbeds and her garden. She was a wood worker and built many beautiful pieces. She was a chocolatier, woman of faith, car enthusiast, motorcycle rider, she loved yard sales and thrift store shopping, she was artistic, played the violin, loved our pug Maya, she was a water skier in her younger days. Mom was a great cook and loved sweets. Mom loved Christmas and decorating for the holidays. It would take her a few weeks to get it all up and it was always beautiful. Mom would always give to people in need, even when she was in need herself. She would knit scarves for the homeless and volunteered at food banks when she was able. She was a very caring, thoughtful, and giving person. I could go on and on because she was just that amazing.

How do you tell the single most important woman in your life how much you love her and what a difference she made in your life.

Or how many times has the sound of her voice lifted your spirit and given you courage to keep following the path of your dreams? How do you find the words to thank her for sacrifices she's made for the ones you know about and the ones she never told you of and the countless times she put your needs before her own. Mom, I can't put into words the way I feel about you, but I hope you knew I much I loved you, respected you and was grateful for the countless ways you've made my life what it is today. I know our bond was not broken when you left this world, and I will continue every day to keep your memory alive and cherish every moment we shared. Love you, Kelly

A Celebration of Life will be held at Arch L. Heady -Cralle Funeral Home October 28, 2023, 2428 Frankfort Ave, Louisville, Ky 40206. (corner of Frankfort Ave and Peterson Ave), from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM followed by a memorial service in Pamela's honor at 2:00 PM.
