He was retired from the US Postal Service and a US Air Force veteran. Mr. Popham was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, where he participated in the Friendship Club and Choir.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, John and Paul Popham.
Mr. Popham is survived by his wife of 63 years, Irene Popham; three children, Michael Popham, Jr. (Katrina Morris), Theresa Sauer (Bert) and David Popham; nine grandchildren, Brian (Caitlyn) and Jason (Etel) Popham, Tony Parker (Ashley), Garrett Sauer, Anderson, Olivia, Elliott, Austin and Benjamin Burgess; 10 great-grandchildren, Adrian, Nicholas, Amelia, Natasha, Vincent, Penelope, Arya, Abby, Ian and Elijah; four brothers, Jimmy, Wilfrid, Bobby and Larry Popham; and three sisters, Anna Mary Deatrick, Catherine Hunt and Dorothy Jarboe.
His funeral Mass will be 11am Saturday, April 9th, at the St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, 9245 Rhodelia Road, Payneville, with interment following in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 2pm until 8pm at the Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY.
